Langara Journalism is a comprehensive program that gives students intensive hands-on training in all the skills required for successful careers in newspapers, magazines, radio, podcasting, television, and the web.

The department teaches the fundamentals of journalism while replicating what it's like to be in today's newsrooms. Specialties include storytelling for multimedia platforms, news writing, research and interviewing, copy editing, newspaper layout and design, and media law and ethics.

All the instructors have had successful careers as reporters, editors, producers, broadcasting professionals, photographers, and online editors in a variety of media, from small community papers to urban television stations to national dailies to international publications.

This hands-on, compelling experience prepares graduates for real-world newsrooms and communications agencies that value accuracy, integrity and meeting deadlines. Our graduates are equipped with both the technical skills and professional judgment needed to succeed in today's rapidly evolving media landscape.
